Communicating animation to developers

What happens when I click it?

One of my first projects at Fitch lasted long enough to also be one of my last: an interactive presentation tool for Boeing’s new Dreamliner. Over the course of my time working on it, the presentation slowly evolved from something like a video with voiceover to something more like a custom Powerpoint with a video introduction.

Because there were so many incarnations of the project, due primarily to the plane’s changing production schedule and our client’s changing needs, documentation grew scattered. When we went into production, there was nothing for the developers to refer to besides a few motion prototypes, a script and the design files. I created this series of diagrams to show the overall structure of the presentation, the repeated animation transitions, and the character count available on each slide.
